ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Freshman Kara Braxton scored 26 points as 22nd-ranked Georgia pulled away in the second-half for a 76-51 victory over Western Kentucky. Braxton shot 10-of-17 for the Lady Bulldogs (17-8), who led 35-28 at halftime despite 36 percent shooting (12-of-33). Georgia improved to 56 percent (18-of-32) in the second half as it outscored Western Kentucky, 41-30. Braxton had 10 points in the first 4:29 of the second half as Georgia opened with a 15-2 run to extend its lead to 50-32 and the game was never in doubt. Tawana McDonald scored 17 points and Ebony Felder added 10 for the Lady Bulldogs. Felder also grabbed 10 boards as Georgia outrebounded the Hilltoppers, 45-28. Kristina Covington led Western Kentucky (14-12) with 18 points and Natalie Powers chipped in 12. |
