TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Ayana Walker had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Cheryl Ford added 17 and 11 as No. 6 Louisiana Tech bounced back from its first Western Athletic Conference loss with a 67-62 victory over Tulsa. In their first season in the WAC, the Lady Techsters (20-4, 15-1 WAC) had won their first 14 league games by an average of more than 30 points before Thursday's stunning 57-56 loss at Rice. There was a bit of a hangover against Tulsa as Tech trailed, 26-24, at halftime. But Walker and Ford, Tech's two big players in a three-guard lineup, combined to make 14-of-22 shots. Amber Obaze scored 10 points for the Lady Techsters, who had none of the difficulties at the foul line they had against Rice. After making just 13-of-30 free throws Thursday, they were 19-of-24 against Tulsa. Leela Farr scored 13 points to lead four players in double figures for the Golden Hurricane (16-11, 11-6), who held the Lady Techsters to 39 percent shooting but shot under 38 percent themselves. |
