TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- It wasn't easy, but Louisiana Tech has its first Western Athletic Conference championship.

Amber Obaze's basket with 47 seconds left snapped a tie as the eighth-ranked Lady Techsters rallied for a 53-50 triumph over Hawaii in the WAC tournament title game.

Louisiana Tech (25-4) moved to the WAC after dominating the Sun Belt Conference and fashioned a 17-1 mark in the regular season. But it received all it could handle from the Rainbow Wahine.

Hawaii (23-7) built a 28-21 halftime lead and was ahead 48-46 after a free throw by Cheryl Ford with 4:16 left. Christen Roper's basket forged a 50-50 tie for the Rainbow Wahine with 73 seconds left.

The Lady Techsters patiently ran their offense before Ayana Walker found Obaze for her basket. Brooke Lassiter made 1-of-2 foul shots and Hawaii's Karena Greeny missed a 3-pointer.

Obaze scored 16 points and Ford added 15 and 13 rebounds to lead Louisiana Tech. Walker added 14 and nine.

Roper and Kim Willoughby each netted 12 points for the Rainbow Wahine, who managed just eight baskets in the second half.
