NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Recap (Nebraska-Kentucky)

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Erica Jackson scored 18 points and Laura Meadows added 16, leading sixth seed Kentucky to a 98-92 first-round victory over Nebraska in the West Region of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

Kentucky (21-10) made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in eight years a memorable one as it advanced to the second round, where it will battle either UCLA or Wisconsin-Green Bay on Monday at Pauley Pavilion.

Trailing 42-34 at halftime, the Wildcats outscored Nebraska 64-50 in the final 20 minutes, shooting 58 percent (21-of-36) from the floor and gaining its fifth win in six games.

Jaye Barnes scored 15 points, LaTonya McDole netted 14, Tiffany Wait 12 and Carolyn Alexander rounded out the double-figure scorers for Kentucky with 10. It was the Wildcats' first win in three all-time meetings against the Cornhuskers.

Nicole Kubik led Nebraska (21-12) with 36 points, marking the third time this season she cracked the 30-point mark. Brooke Schwartz scored 11 points and Charlie Rogers added 10.
