LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Summer Erb had 34 points and 18 rebounds as 10th-seeded North Carolina State began its quest for another Final Four appearance with a 76-57 victory over Mississippi State in the first round of the Midwest Region of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

Erb, a 6-6 center, was 16-of-22 from the field and recorded her 11th double-double of the season, helping the Wolfpack (17-11) advance to a second-round game on Monday against either Texas Tech or Stephen F. Austin.

Appearing in their 14th NCAA tournament, the Wolfpack made a surprise run to the Final Four last season, losing to Louisiana Tech.

Erb grabbed 18 rebounds in a game for the second time this season and moved into 15th place on the school's all-time single season list with 262.

Monica Bates added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack, who shot 50 percent (32-of-64) from the field and outrebounded Mississippi State, 51-31.

After opening a 33-28 halftime lead, the Wolfpack shot 64 percent in the second half, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs, 43-29.

LaToya Graham and Nitra Perry each scored 16 points for Mississippi State (17-11), which was making its first tournament appearance in school history. Jennifer Fambrough added 14 for the Lady Bulldogs, who shot just 34 percent (22-of-65).
