NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Recap (No Carolina St-Texas Tech)
Posted: Tues March 16, 1999 at 2:19 a.m EST LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Angie Braziel scored 25 points and Keitha Dickerson added 21 to lead second-seeded Texas Tech to an 85-74 victory over 10th seed North Carolina State in the second round of the Midwest Region of the NCAA Women's Tournament. The Lady Raiders (30-3) moved into the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1996 and will face Rutgers in the regional semifinal on Saturday in Normal, Illinois. Texas Tech has won 10 straight games and 13 in a row at home. They reached the 30-win plateau for the fourth time in the 24-year history of the program. North Carolina State (17-12) made one more field goal than Texas Tech, but was outscored from the free throw line, 23-14. Rene Hanebutt added 17 points for the Lady Raiders. Braziel grabbed 10 rebounds and Dickerson chipped in with nine. Summer Erb pace the Wolfpack with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Kim Smith added 19 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
