NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Recap (LSU-Louisiana Tech)
Posted: Sun March 21, 1999 at 3:13 a.m EST LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Amanda Wilson scored 27 points to lead top-seeded Louisiana Tech to a 73-52 victory over intrastate rival Louisiana State in the West Region semifinal of the NCAA Women's Tournament. The Lady Techsters (28-2) won their 21st straight game, advancing to their 13th regional final. They will meet UCLA on Monday. LSU (22-7) led 15-8 with 13:18 left in the first half before Louisiana Tech went on a 16-2 run to take a 24-17 lead with 6:30 left. Betty Lennox keyed the spurt with nine of her 19 points. The Lady Tigers closed to 24-22 with 4:17 remaining on a layup by Marie Ferdinand. But Louisiana Tech closed the half with a 15-3 spurt and took a 39-25 lead into the break. LSU never got the defecit below 10 points in the second half. Louisiana State committed 21 turnovers to just eight for Louisiana Tech.
