In the midst of a self-imposed media boycott, Bird led the unbeaten Sycamores (32-0) past Oklahoma and Arkansas into the Final Four, scoring 29 and 31 points, respectively. But it was reserve Bob Heaton's left-handed prayer that "hit the rim and bounced around for what seemed like an eternity," according to SI's William F. Reed, before falling with :02 left for a 73-71 win over the Razorbacks.
