REBOUNDING
Bird's ability and desire to hit the boards were other
traits that separated him from his contemporaries. His
career average was exactly 10.0 rebounds per game, and his
skill in grabbing a rebound and starting the fast break was
a key to the Celtics'
success in the 1980s. Early in his career he also used the old
trick of throwing the ball off the backboard to himself for
an easier
shot. |
