Shaheen Holloway

Allsport
Position: Point Guard
College: Seton Hall
Conference: Big East
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 175
Age: 23
Birthdate: 10/07/76
High School: St. Patrick's, Elizabeth, N.J.

Holloway had the misfortune of playing in a conference that featured several great point guards; otherwise, he might have gotten more recognition. Khalid El-Amin (Connecticut), Eric Barkley (St. John's) and Jason Hart (Syracuse) were all selected to the All-Big East first team. That left Holloway to second team, but he had a good year even if he was overshadowed. It might have been even better had he not missed an NCAA tournament Sweet 16 game against Oklahoma State last March. The Pirates lost by just two points (68-66). Another game or two into the Big Dance would have helped the nation see how far Holloway has progressed under coach Tommy Amaker. Holloway had an excellent year, finishing second on his team (and 18th in the Big East) in scoring and leading the Pirates in assists (5.6 per game) and steals (52). He shot well from 3-point range (.403) and the free-throw line (.780) -- skills that really make a point guard dangerous.
