As expected, Johnson's college career was a one-and-done deal. He stayed at Cincinnati just long enough to live up to his billing in high school, where he was chosen Parade's Player of the Year in 1999. He did that by averaging 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds and earning Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors. Johnson is a great athlete who plays with an effortless grace. Some critics contend he lacks intensity, but those critics don't have to guard him. At 6-9, he presents a huge matchup problem because he's a legitimate shooting guard, with better-than-average range (.371 from behind 3-point line as a freshman). Johnson is obviously a post-up threat; not many opposing two guards can match his size. He needs to mature and cut down on turnovers, but with time to develop, Johnson could become a handful.
