Morris Peterson
Drafted by Toronto Raptors in Round 1, pick 21

Allsport
Position: Small Forward
College: Michigan St.
Conference: Big Ten
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 215
Age:
Birthdate: 08/26/77
High School: Northwestern, Flint, Mich.

Peterson, who turned up on some first-team All-American lists and helped lead the Spartans to the national championship, should be a great pro. A likely lottery pick, Peterson has great size and jumping ability, which enables him to do damage in the paint and finish on the break. Couple that with a tremendous 3-point stroke -- he led the Big Ten in 3-point percentage (.435) last season -- and you have a big-time scoring machine who's hard to guard. Peterson is also unselfish, as evidenced by his 44 assists last season. He averaged 6.1 rebounds as a senior. He can defend. It's little wonder Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun called Peterson (the Big Ten Player of the Year and tournament Most Outstanding Player) one of the five best players in the country.
