Etan Thomas
Drafted by Dallas Mavericks in Round 1, pick 12

Allsport
Position: Power Forward
College: Syracuse
Conference: Big East
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 247
Age: 22
Birthdate: 04/01/78
High School: Booker T. Washington, Tulsa, Okla.

Thomas had to play center with the Orangemen, but the 6-9, 250-pounder is better suited to play power forward, which he will no doubt do in the NBA. Thomas is an excellent defender who was chosen the Big East's Defensive Player of the Year the past two seasons. That hadn't been done since Georgetown's Allen Iverson in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Thomas led the league in blocked shots in 1999-2000 (3.9 per game) and finished second to Patrick Ewing on the Big East's all-time blocks list.
