Mark Madsen
Drafted by Los Angeles Lakers in Round 1, pick 29

Allsport
Position: Power Forward
College: Stanford
Conference: Pac-10
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 240
Age: 24
Birthdate: 01/28/76
High School: San Ramon Valley, Danville, Calif.

The "Mad Dog," as he's been called by friends and foes alike the past four years, was as intense a competitor as their was in college basketball. He's without fear when it comes to diving for loose balls, battling for rebounds and putting a body on an opponent. He's not just a hack; Madsen has a fairly polished low-post game, as his shooting percentage (better than 50 percent all last season) would attest. But Madsen won't beat anybody on sheer athleticism, and he also lacks a consistent jump shot. His free-throw shooting needs work. Despite his weaknesses, Madsen is the kind of player who's handy to have around, a real lunch-pail guy who doesn't shy away from the tough jobs.
