Jabari Smith
Drafted by Sacramento Kings in Round 2, pick 45

Allsport
Position: Center
College: LSU
Conference: SEC
Height: 6'11"
Weight: 250
Age: 23
Birthdate: 02/12/77
High School: Booker T. Washington, Atlanta, Ga.

Smith is solidly built and mobile, a combination which makes him a good inside scorer. He has decent quickness in the post and can take the ball to the basket, where he often gets fouled. Smith, who played two seasons of junior-college basketball, came to LSU ready for Division I competition, and he didn't disappoint. He finished second in the SEC in rebounding in 1998-99 and led the league in defensive boards. His rebounding numbers decreased this year with the emergence of gifted teammate Stromile Swift, but he was still 10th in the league (7.0) while averaging 12.5 points. Smith was chosen to the All-SEC second team, a well-deserved honor.
