Craig Claxton
Drafted by Philadelphia 76ers in Round 1, pick 20

Allsport
Position: Point Guard
College: Hofstra
Conference: America East
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 180
Age:
Birthdate:
High School: Christ the King, Hempstead, N.Y.

Claxton didn't win the Naismith award that goes to the nation's top senior under 6-feet, but he gave Ohio State's Scoonie Penn a run for his money. Claxton had a great senior year, averaging nearly 23 points and more than six assists and three steals. He shot an impressive 47 percent from the field (38 percent from 3-point range) and, incredibly, grabbed 5.4 rebounds per game. Claxton scored 20 or more points 18 times, 30 or more seven times and twice reached 40. He was chosen the America East Conference Player of the Year for the second time, joining Reggie Lewis and Malik Rose as the only three players to do so. He set a league record by earning six player-of-the-week awards. The old mark of five was set by Lewis and Vin Baker. Claxton is a possible late first-round or early second-round pick.
