Brown was headed for Iowa State before changing his mind and declaring for the draft, which has a decent but not great crop of centers. Brown didn't overpower anyone at Indian Hills, averaging 12.8 points and 7.0 rebounds. His blocked-shot total was more impressive: 4.0. Brown, a native of the Bronx, was well traveled in his short collegiate career. He first attended Mesa (Ariz.) Community College, where he averaged 22 points and 15 boards as a freshman. He later left for Indian Hills. Brown was a McDonald's All-American in high school.
