Out again Duncan forced to sit again in Game 3Posted: Saturday April 29, 2000 03:45 PM
PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs again will be without star forward Tim Duncan today when they visit the Phoenix Suns in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series. Duncan, the Most Valuable Player of the 1999 NBA Finals, has torn cartilage in his left knee and has yet to play in the series. While the Spurs say Duncan has made progress, the team is not ready to have him return to the lineup. Without Duncan, David Robinson set the tone with a huge first half and finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds as the Spurs evened the series with an 85-70 win on Tuesday. The Spurs received more bad news when it was revealed that veteran forward Jerome Kersey will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a foot injury. Although the series is tied at 1-1, the Suns' offense has had problems getting untracked, managing only 142 points in the first two games. Phoenix is coping with injury woes of its own. All-Star point guard Jason Kidd is out with a broken left ankle, suffered in a March 22 game against Sacramento. Forward Rodney Rogers, a leading candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award, is experiencing back spasms but is listed as probable today
