PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Philadelphia 76ers forward George Lynch had
surgery on his left foot Sunday night and is expected to miss the
remainder of the season.
"We placed a screw in his metatarsal bone," Dr. Jack McPhilemy
said Monday. "He fractured his left fifth metatarsal, and surgery
to repair it took about 30 minutes. It went very, very well. The
fracture is fixed, and we are very optimistic about his chances."
Lynch had a stress fracture in the same bone in August.
Lynch, the only Sixer to play all 82 games in the regular
season, was injured Sunday with 27 seconds remaining in the third
quarter of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series with
Toronto. The series is tied 2-2.
Lynch averaged 8.4 points and 7.2 rebounds during the regular
season. The 6-foot-7 forward was averaging 6.9 points and 5.8
rebounds in eight playoff games.
