CNNSI.com's Division Previews: Atlantic
If Antoine Walker continues to produce and Paul Pierce
continues his development, the Celtics' fortunes should improve,
but enough not to bring any new hardware to the FleetCenter.
The most pressing question facing the Miami Heat is how will
the team fare
without its heart and soul, Alonzo Mourning? The
All-Star center is lost for the season because of a kidney disorder.
Jayson Williams is retired, and Jamie Feick is recovering from
surgery, so the Nets will be relying heavily on Kenyon Martin to
hit the boards.
Marcus Camby must reemerge as the energetic, inside
presence
he was two years ago, Larry Johnson must stay
healthy, and Kurt Thomas must stay out of foul trouble.
Get the nametags ready for the preseason. The Magic were
involved in more transactions this offseason than any other club
in the league.
The mercurial Allen Iverson has done everything he can to annoy
the straight-laced Brown, but the coach needs to find a way
to get through to his star.
If Mitch Richmond, Juwan Howard and Rod Strickland can ever
get their collective act together, the Wizards could be a force to
be reckoned with
in the Eastern Conference.
