There was no real question who the Stud of Game 2 was. In bettering his Stud-like performance in Game 1, Shaq scored 40 points (going 14-of-23 from the field and 12-of-14 from the line), grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out eight assists as the Lakers moved a step closer to a three-peat with the win. |

Kenyon Martin said he was going to be aggressive and keep shooting, but he didn't say anything about making those shots. The Nets' second-year forward was only 2-of-8 from the floor in Game 2, scoring only six points. Martin also had as many rebounds as fouls (5). |

Game 2 was really all about Shaq. While he was taking a breather late in the game, the Nets reeled off a 15-2 run to cut the Lakers' lead to seven points (79-72). But when the Big Fella stepped back on the court, L.A. went on a 27-11 run of its own to finish off New Jersey 106-83. |

In getting the Lakers out to another fast start, Shaq again torched Todd MacCulloch right out of the gate. After 6 1/2 minutes of play, Shaq had gone 4-of-5 from the field for eight quick points (more than half of L.A.'s total offensive output), as the Lakers led the Nets 15-9. |
