CNNSI.com's Division Previews: Central
(Projected Order of Finish)
The Bucks didn't make many changes in the offseason,
but, then again, they didn't need to. The defending Central
Division champs hope to take the next step this season.
No team in the Central had a more successful offseason
than Toronto. And while Hakeem Olajuwon may not be the
Dream of old, the Raptors don't need him to be.
Look for Charlotte to pick up where it left off -- sweeping
Miami in the first round and nearly upsetting Milwaukee
in the semifinals.
Though luxury tax fears prevented them from making
any key acquisitions, the Pacers' management thinks
the core of the team is good enough.
After a franchise-worst 25 wins a season ago, the Hawks
appear ready to rebound. The key will be to find which
of their three point guards will start.
With so many role players and only one real star, new
head coach John Lucas is going to have a hard time
staying optimistic
.
The Pistons are going with a new coach and new uniforms
(the old red, white and blue) this season. After a dismal
2000-01 campaign, any change is good.
Bulls fans thought they had hit rock bottom last year.
But after another miserable season, it only got worse
during the summer.
