Bucks forward Scott Williams was walking around his team's media day Monday holding a small gift-wrapped box. It was a present from teammate Ray Allen and his girlfriend to celebrate Williams' having become a father last month. "I'm going to wait and let my wife open it," Williams said.

The Bucks, meanwhile, are smiling over the possibility of getting a gift of their own: free agent Anthony Mason. The All-Star power forward worked out with Bucks players last month and is said to be considering an offer to join Milwaukee. "We've got to have the inside track since he's been here the last two weeks," said Williams.

The Bucks seem so convinced Mason will join them, several spoke of his acquisition as nearly a done deal. "The perception of our team is going to be so much different from the outside, seeing Mason down low," Allen said. "He'll fit our style and add some aggressiveness."

Even Williams, who plays the same position as Mase, says he's thrilled about adding a player who can provide some much-needed low-post scoring. To a man, the Bucks were saying much the same thing. It's almost as if they think Mason's arrival would wrap up the Eastern title in a neat package with a bow.
