School: Boston College
High School: Holy Angels (MN)
Conference: Big East

Selected by Boston Celtics
Round 1, pick 16 (16 overall)

Traded to Grizzlies
BIO: Bell spent four years at Boston College, where he was named Big East Player of the Year as a senior. He averaged more than 18 points per game in every year of his career, including a 25.2 scoring average his senior campaign to rank fifth in the nation. Bell averaged 3.7 assists last season and 2.3 steals per game. After a shooting slump as a junior, Bell returned to form and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers last season. Bell completed his career as Boston College's all-time leading scorer.

ANALYSIS: Bell is a scoring point guard, which is sometimes a mixed blessing. A big-time scorer with great blow-by speed and leaping ability, Bell can get into the lane and lives at the free-throw line. He can also shoot the 3-pointer, but as is often the case with scoring points, he can occasionally settle for the 3-pointer. His decision-making will need work. Bell is a winner who can will his team to victory.

POSITIVES: Bell was one of the most prolific scorers in college basketball in the last decade at the major conference level. He is as equally adept shooting the ball from the perimeter as he is taking it to the basket.

NEGATIVES: Bell has a shoot-first, pass-second mentality that prevented him from raising the game of his teammates at the college level.

PROJECTION: Early Second Round
