LUKE JACKSON
Position: SF
Class: Sr
School: Oregon
Conference: Pac-10
Ht., Wt.: 6'7, 215

Selected by Cleveland Cavaliers
Round 1, pick 10 (10 overall)
BIO: Jackson played four years at Oregon, where he finished as the second-leading scorer in school history. The Oregon native was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year after averaging 21.2 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior, helping lead the Ducks to the National Invitation Tournament semifinals. Jackson is an adequate 3-point shooter who has a knack to get to the basket. Jackson also possesses a long wingspan that contributes to his excellent perimeter defense. His size, strength and skills make him an intriguing prospect.

ANALYSIS: Jackson is one of the top shooters in the draft. He has excellent range and has the ability to play in the backcourt, as well. He is an excellent passer and a solid ballhandler. Scouts wonder about his ability to defend the top athletes at the small forward and shooting guard spots, but he has surprised some observers with his athleticism in private workouts. Jackson was one of just six players in the country to lead his team in scoring, rebounding and assists. He is a likely lottery pick.

POSITIVES: At times this season, Jackson was nothing short of incredible. In the zone, he was impossible to stop, nailing 3-pointers, floaters, put-backs and pull-up jumpers. Even when his shot wasn't falling, Jackson's versatility allowed him to be effective on a nightly basis. He boards, dishes, hustles and bangs. The San Diego Padres even want him to pitch as a southpaw in their farm system. How's that for versatility?

NEGATIVES: Competing at the wing position in the NBA, a player must have quickness to create shots off the dribble. Although a solid athlete, Jackson lacks star-quality explosiveness, so he is being viewed at best as a third offensive option.

PROJECTION: Reserve, future starter
