BIO: Ramos is a Puerto Rican who has developed a reputation, thanks to some strong showings in the United States and internationally. Having already proven he can dominate the unskilled Puerto Rican league, Ramos shined in high school tournaments against American players last year and also performed well in the Global Games in Dallas. Ramos spent nine years in New York before he was signed to a pro contract at the age of 14. Now 19, Ramos is a project who has size and athleticism and needs work defensively.
ANALYSIS: Ramos has good strength and a strong inside game. He is a good passing big man. Ramos has good overall skills but needs to continue to refine his game. He has plenty of upside and has made great strides the past two seasons. Ramos is a projected late first-round pick.
POSITIVES: Ramos has been extremely productive playing pro ball in Puerto Rico. While it may only be Puerto Rico and not the NBA, fans have to remember that Ramos is still only 18 and he has matched up with and dominated opposing centers with college and NBA experience. At 7-3 and possessing decent agility, Ramos' upside is as big as his body.
NEGATIVES: The biggest knocks on Ramos are about his head and his heart. There are questions about his passion for the game - he seems to coast at times and does not play with NBA intensity. He is also lazy on defense and takes plays off. While Ramos may still only be a teenager and has plenty of time to change, concerns about a player's mental makeup during his early years most often will follow him throughout his career.
