ANALYSIS: Jones is an extremely late bloomer who obviously needs to gain about 20 pounds before he can begin to think about playing any minutes at center in the NBA. However, Jones has a tantalizing ability to block shots with his enormous 7-foot-5 wingspan. He led South Florida in blocked shots in each of his two seasons there, and as a senior ramped up his rebounding to 9.8 rebounds per game, second in the Big East Conference. On offense, Jones is just beginning to understand how to use his length and stride to get to the basket and put pressure on opposing defenses. He has a good touch on his jumper and his range currently extends to about 15 feet, and he's a good free throw shooter, which is important to the type of player he should become. Jones runs the court with the alacrity of a small forward and shows as much enthusiasm for defense as he does for offense. He is the type of player tailor-made for an NBA team to draft him, sign him and put him in the Development League for a season or two so he can develop his body and his skills another notch.
