Drew Gordon
Position: PF
Class: Senior
School: New Mexico
Conference: MWEST
HT: 6'9"
WT: 245 lbs.
Biography: Gordon became one of the most dominant players in the Mountain West Conference in 2011-12, though there's a slim chance his solid senior season will be enough to get him into the first round of the draft. A McDonald's All-American coming out of high school, Gordon originally signed with UCLA and played in 34 games as a freshman. He decided to transfer six games into his sophomore season due to a reported rift with coach Ben Howland, eventually landing at New Mexico, where he was given a much larger role. Gordon averaged 13.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in 26 games as a junior and was named Mountain West newcomer of the year. He recorded 19 double-doubles - good for 10th in the nation - while averaging 13.7 points and 11.1 rebounds and being named to the All-Mountain West first team as a senior. Gordon's physical play down low is his main asset, using his size to work for easy buckets and solid rebounding position. However, his game facing the basket needs work, and he'll have to develop better ball-handling skills and a consistent mid-range jumper in order for NBA scouts to believe he can fully compete at the next level. How he performs in private workouts and pre-draft camps will go a long way in determining Gordon's draft position, but he's likely an early second-round pick at best.
