Tyshawn Taylor
Round 2, Pick 41
Position: PG
Class: Senior
School: Kansas
Conference: BIG12
HT: 6'3"
WT: 185 lbs.
Biography: "Taylor averaged 16.6 points to earn third team All-American honors as a senior while helping Kansas reach the national title game after not averaging in double digits during his first three seasons with the Jayhawks. His early years at Kansas were often notable for his discretions as he fought members of the football team, criticized fans on social media outlets and was suspended by coach Bill Self more than once for a ""violation of team rules."" Self now lauds the maturity of a player who was at his best when it counted, scoring a game-high 22 points in the win over North Carolina that advanced Kansas to the Final Four and leading the team with 19 points in the title-game defeat to Kentucky. Taylor had some glowing credentials prior to his senior season, leading the United States under-19 team to a gold medal at the 2009 world championships, the first for the country since 1991. He also starred at famed St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, N.J., under coach Bob Hurley for a team that went 32-0 his senior year. The big question mark for Taylor is where he will fit in the NBA game since he is neither a natural point guard nor an outstanding shooter. Forced to be more of a playmaker as a senior, Taylor struggled by times and finished second in the Big 12 with 3.5 turnovers per game - including 11 against fellow perimeter prospect Austin Rivers in a loss to Duke."
