Class: Senior
School: IUPUI
Conference: SUM
HT: 6'6"
WT: 212 lbs.
Biography: Young probably won't be selected until late in the second round, but he is an under-the-radar prospect who will likely give the team that picks him valuable scoring off the bench. Young finished his career ranked third in IUPUI and fourth in Summit League history with 2,286 points. He also is fourth in school history with 202 3-pointers made, 173 steals and 89 blocked shots while ranking fifth with 668 rebounds. As a senior, Young was chosen first-team All-Summit League for the third straight year after leading the Jaguars with 20.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. His scoring average ranked 14th nationally, fourth in the conference and was the third-highest for an IUPUI player in the Division I era. That number was aided by his 43-point performance against Western Kentucky on Dec. 10, tying the sixth-highest scoring game in school history. While he played some small forward in college, Young is projected to be a shooting guard in the NBA because he moves well without the ball and can get himself open for shots. However, he needs to work on his shot selection and decision-making as well as holding onto the ball after averaging 3.1 turnovers in his four seasons. Young is looking to become the second IUPUI player to be selected in the draft after San Antonio took George Hill 26th overall in 2008.
