Biography: Middleton is an interesting case, entering the draft following a somewhat disappointing junior season. After showing a lot of potential as a sophomore at Texas A&M while averaging 14.4 points and 5.2 rebounds, Middleton took a step back. Limited by a knee injury, he played in just 20 games as a junior, including 17 starts. Middleton averaged 13.2 points and 5.0 boards, and his accuracy also was down - from 45.2 percent from the field as a sophomore to 41.5 percent last season. The lack of progression between the two years will be of concern, but the raw talent is there. Middleton can score off the dribble and has a decent mid-range shot that should carry over well to the NBA. He's not bothered by defensive pressure and has shown the ability to be creative in tight space. However, he wasn't as effective with catch-and-shoot jumpers or finishing around the basket, something NBA teams will be looking for. Middleton also wasn't the best defensive player on the floor with the Aggies as he was prone to being beaten off the dribble. He needs to work on getting stronger to be more effective. However, Middleton has shown a lot of promise and is someone many teams would be willing to take a chance on at some point in the second round.
