Michael Jordan said that part of what legitimized the Bulls' first NBA title was the fact that his team defeated the storied Lakers in the Finals in 1991. Los Angeles had won five championships in the 1980s and 11 overall. But with the addition of the 1998 title, Jordan's Bulls surpass the Magic Johnson-led Lakers in championships.
