In a battle of two franchises that have since moved, Philadelphia, which finished last in the Eastern Division a year earlier, beat Fort Wayne for its second NBA title. The Warriors also won the league's first championship in 1947.

Paul Arizin, sharp-eyed Philadelphia forward, scored 289 points in 10 playoff games, helped Warriors complete rags-to-riches comeback by taking four out of five from Fort Wayne Pistons to win NBA championship.
