Talk about a bummer. There’s not gonna be a free-agent summit anymore.
That’s right. Max-free-agents-to-be Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amar’e Stoudemire and LeBron won’t be meeting at a secret location at a secret time to discuss secret free-agent things.
Wade and Bosh’s agent, Henry Thomas, last week told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the meeting was off (if it was ever really on), but news never really spread. So , CNBC’s Darren Rovell reached out to Thomas, who responded with this on Tuesday:
“Dwyane never made reference to a summit. He said that he’d have conversations with some of these guys, and that still will happen. But there’s no summit of any kind planned where they’ll all be in the same location. … The way it was first characterized and the way it continues to be characterized — as if the only thing left to determine is a date and a location — is not the reality.”
Stoudemire’s agent, Happy Walters, confirmed this much.
“The idea that they’re all in this together and they’re going to say, ‘OK, you go here and I go there,’ that’s not happening,” he told Rovell. [CNBC]
