So that little LeBron party in Akron on Saturday drew 8,500 fans — more than double what was expected. That’s 8,500 screaming LeBron lovers in one small crowded stadium, spending an entire day doing LeBron-loving things. Like participating in a LeBron-look-a-like contest.
But as Tyler Alger reported from Portland, Blazers fans had their own little LeBron party. Only, at this one, The King failed to show. Dozens (not thousands) gathered outside the Rose Garden, waving at cars and chanting “We want the king!” and “Bring LeBron to Portland!”
Event organizer David Chitsazan said he was disappointed with the turnout, but considering The King showed up to LeBron Appreciation Day, he and his fellow Blazers fans held out hope that LeBron would miraculously show up.
“I just got a text from LeBron,” joked recent Oregon graduate Tim Dundon. “He said he’d try to make it out here. I mean he made it to the Akron one yesterday.” [Oregonian]
