What has this world come to? Now LeBron can’t even going clubbing without getting a sales pitch.
According to the New York Post, The King showed up to New York nightclub Avenue with his girlfriend and a group of friends at around 2 a.m. Thursday, but his night was quickly interrupted by a celebrity war over him. R&B singer Mary J. Blige walked in the Chelsea club shortly after LeBron and took over a table next to him. In the middle of the club, she stood on banquette and grabbed the mic to sing a few songs to promote her new artist, Starshell. Afterward, she gave a shout-out to The Chosen One and asked him to say a few words, which he did.
But then Jeremy Piven, a Chicago native and the star of Entourage, kept it classy by barreling his way through the crowd yelling, “Don’t think I didn’t come here to recruit LeBron to play for Chicago! But either way, I’m a big fan.”
At that point, the only proper way to close out the evening was to blast Usher’s “OMG” and Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” to make the crowd go nuts. What a night. [New York Post]
