When the Nets meet with LeBron on Thursday, Jay-Z will do all the talking.

So … remember when Jay-Z said he wouldn’t try to convince LeBron to come to New York or New Jersey? Remember when he said that, as a long-time friend to the King, he would let him decide on his own?

Well, forget all that.

Jay-Z will join the Nets’ contingent when it meets with LeBron in Akron on July 1, and as the Newark Star-Ledger’s Dave D’Alessandro reports, Jay will do most of the talking.

According to those familiar with the sales pitch, it will be a “low-key” approach, with the Russian billionaire [Mikhail Prokhorov] using two or three hours to illuminate what he can do for James’ image and reputation on a global scale, and try to get James to specify what other player he would have the team sign.

What can be “low-key” about a Russian billionaire, perhaps the biggest name in hip-hop and the King discussing a $100-plus million contract and world domination? [Star-Ledger]
