Human highlight returns Dominique Wilkins to play with brother on MagicPosted: Friday February 05, 1999 01:07 PM
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Dominique Wilkins returned to the NBA Friday, signing with the Orlando Magic and joining his younger brother, Gerald. Dominique Wilkins, who spent most of his career with the Atlanta Hawks and is the NBA's eighth-leading career scorer, probably will back up Bo Outlaw at small forward. Wilkins, 39, last played in the NBA during the 1996-97 season, averaging just more than 18 points for the San Antonio Spurs. He spent part of last year in Italy after scoring 26,534 points - an average of 25.3 per game - in 14 NBA seasons. "Dominique brings us veteran leadership, as well as depth as the small forward position," general manager John Gabriel said. Wilkins' deal includes a $250,000 guarantee for the 1999-2000 season. The Magic also placed forward Jonathan Kerner on the injured list with a strained back.
