PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Allen Iverson says he has fired his agent David Falk, who represented him since 1996.

The 76ers star, who has been unhappy with the superagent for some time, would not confirm rumors that he would soon sign with retired Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson, who has become a sports agent in collaboration with the William Morris Agency.

"I'm getting ready to go with the best marketing people," Iverson told The Philadelphia Inquirer in Tuesday's editions. "I want to see what's up with Magic. ... I'll be looking at him and a couple of other people."

Iverson's lawyers have drawn up papers to dismiss Falk and had them sent to Falk Associates Management Enterprise on Friday. Iverson declined to release any other details.

Falk and Johnson were not available for comment.

Falk, 49, is a premier NBA agent who represents Michael Jordan. Iverson and Falk denied reports in December that Iverson was thinking about leaving his agent and hiring hip-hop producer Sean "Puffy" Combs to represent him.

In January, Iverson signed a six-year, $70.9 million contract extension with the 76ers.
