NEW YORK (AP) -- Dikembe Mutombo of the Atlanta Hawks is the winner of the NBA's IBM award, a computer-generated measure of a player's statistical contributions to his team.

Mutombo, who helped lead Atlanta to a 31-19 record by averaging 10.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.94 blocked shots, finished with a 115.67 computer rating.

Shaquille O'Neal of the Lakers was second with a rating of 102.86, Miami's Alonzo Mourning was third (100.63), followed by Detroit's Grant Hill (98.49) and Utah's Karl Malone (98.27).

Malone won the award last season, and David Robinson has won it five times. Michael Jordan won it twice.

The rating is derived from a complicated formula: Points, field goal attempts, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks are added together, and personal fouls and turnovers are subtracted. That sum is added to the number of a team's victories multiplied by 10, and that total is multiplied by 250 to reach a number that is divided by team points minus field goal attempts plus rebounds, assists, steals and blocks minus personal fouls and turnovers.

Mutombo's award was announced Sunday. The Sixth Man Award will be announced Monday and the All-Defensive team will be named Thursday.
