Randy Moss The athleticism of Randy Moss could give him a chance to succeed in the NBA like he has in the NFL. AP

PHOENIX (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss had a busy day Sunday against the Chicago Bears, hauling in eight catches for 122 yards.

His days may get a lot busier: his representatives have contacted the Minnesota Timberwolves about trying out for the team, coach Flip Saunders told the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Sunday.

"His guys called us up," Saunders said after the Wolves' practice at America West Arena. "The problem right now, he's got to call when he's done. [The Vikings] play till February -- if they play the way they can, as far as going to the Super Bowl and those type of things. He's really athletic, he was a great high school player. But he hasn't played."

In August, Moss expressed interest in trying his hand at pro basketball. Moss was twice named West Virginia's Mr. Basketball while at DuPont High. The 6-foot-4 Moss was offered scholarships in football and basketball.

The arrangements of a two-sport career could be complicated, but nothing is impossible, Saunders said.

"As good an athlete as he is," Saunders said, "I'll never say never, knowing that he is such a great athlete."
