PHOENIX (AP) -- Anfernee Hardaway, the Phoenix Suns' most important off-season acquisition, was placed on the injured list by the team Tuesday.

Hardaway is suffering from plantar fasciaitis -- an injury to the arch of his right foot. He missed the past eight games and is eligible to return to the active roster when the Suns face the Charlotte Hornets Jan. 4.

In the 15 games he played this season, Hardaway averaged 16.3 points, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 6.1 rebounds. The rebounding average was a career high.

To take his spot on the roster, the Suns activated guard Gerald Brown, who had been on the injured list with tendinitis in his left knee. The Suns then waived Brown, leaving the active roster at 11 players.
