ATLANTA (AP) -- Hawks forward Roshown McLeod has been arrested on simple battery charges.

Police in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta arrested McLeod on Monday night, Cobb County sheriff's Lt. Ronald Cross said. McLeod posted bond of $1,100, Cross said.

Lt. Jim Spradley of the Marietta police said officers responded to a call from McLeod's girlfriend, who is pregnant. She said McLeod had shoved her during an argument over her use of the telephone, Spradley said.

"From what we know about it, it's just a major misunderstanding," Hawks general manager Pete Babcock said Tuesday. "That was a personal matter, and I promised Ro I wouldn't tell."

McLeod, who was in the Hawks' locker room before Atlanta's game against the New Jersey Nets, did not suit up. He had no comment.

McLeod is a second-year forward out of Duke. He has averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 43 games this year with the Hawks, who have the second-worst record in the NBA's Eastern Conference.
