With the NBA trade deadline almost upon us, CNNSI.com asked what you would do with your team's roster, given the chance to be its GM for a day. There were a lot of Kobe-for-Vince suggestions, and quite a few offers for Dikembe Mutombo. Here's a sampling of the proposals we received.
Boston Celtics I would trade Antoine Walker to the Pacers for Jermaine O'Neal and Travis Best. The Celtics would get a great young center and a good point guard, while the Pacers would get a big, strong forward. -- Peter Kieselbach, St. Paul, Minn.
I would send Antoine Walker to the Bulls for Elton Brand. Chicago gets an explosive scorer, and Boston gets a truer power forward. -- Brian Keith, Princeton, N.J.
I'd trade Derrick Coleman for a first-rounder, ANYWHERE! This guy only hurts the Hornets, so he has to go. -- Andrew Chow, Greenville, N.C.
Chicago Bulls I would send Marcus Fizer to New York for Glen Rice. The Knicks need bulk down low, and the Bulls need a shooter and a big-name player. -- Erik Gilbertson, Des Moines, Iowa
Dallas Mavericks I would send Gary Trent and a 2001 second-round pick to the Knicks for Kurt Thomas. Thomas would bring the Mavs an inside presence on defense, and the Knicks have too many power forwards. -- Mike Sweet, Dallas
Los Angeles Lakers I would send Kobe Bryant to Orlando for the multi-talented Tracy McGrady. It's a fair deal, because both players are young and have a lot of talent. I'm pretty sure it would benefit both teams. -- Khalil Chi, Cotabato City, Philippines
I would send Glenn Robinson to the Trail Blazers for Dale Davis and a first-round pick. Robinson would give the Blazers some more force on the perimeter, and Davis would help shore up the Bucks' weak inside game. -- Mark Dittami, Chicago
I would send Tom Gugliotta and Shawn Marion to the Hawks for Dikembe Mutombo. This would make the Hawks younger and more athletic and make the Suns an instant title contender. -- Chip Anderson, Valley City, N.D.
I would send Chris Webber and Nick Anderson to New York for Allan Houston, Marcus Camby and Travis Knight. This would give the Knicks a formidable lineup and make the Kings a little bigger with another sharp-shooter. -- M. Lee Dobbins, Sacramento
