WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Ryne Smith scored a career-high 26 points to help Purdue hold off High Point 67-65 on Monday night.

Smith tied a school record with eight 3-pointers, a mark he now shares with Robbie Hummel and Cuonzo Martin. He also tied David Teague's school record with 15 3-point attempts.

Hummel scored 18 points and Anthony Johnson added 13 for the Boilermakers (2-0), who won their 19th straight home game.

Nick Barbour missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds that could have won the game for the Panthers (1-1). Barbour scored 17 points and Shay Shine added 14 for the Big South program, which finished with a 12-19 record last season.

Purdue made just 6 of 19 free throws and 13 of 32 3-pointers. The Boilermakers fell one 3-point attempt short of the school record and took only 20 shots from inside the arc.
