MONROE, La. (AP) -- Carl Richard tallied a double-double, leading Indiana State to a 71-59 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Monday night.
Richard scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Sycamores (2-0), who shot 45 percent (27 of 60) from the floor in the victory. The Warhawks shot just 36.8 percent (21 of 57).
Jake Odum and Jordan Printy added 13 points apiece for Indiana State.
The Sycamores began the game on a 5-0 run and led the entire way, although the Warhawks pulled within 56-54 with 8:17 left to play. But Printy hit a 3-pointer after a timeout, starting a 9-0 run to seal it.
Indiana State recorded eight blocks, six steals and turned the ball over just five times. Louisiana-Monroe committed 11 turnovers in the losing effort.
Fred Brown led Louisiana-Monroe (0-2) with 15 points and Charles Winborne added 12.
