LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Terrance Hill scored 17 points and Drew Kelly added 14 as Morehead State led throughout in a 61-52 victory over West Alabama on Friday.
Kelly scored a pair of 3-pointers and a layup to get the Eagles (2-3) off to an 8-0 start with less than 2 minutes elapsed in the subregional game in the TicketCity Legends Classic.
The Eagles increased their lead to 22-5 with 11:24 remaining in the first half, but the Tigers (1-4) closed the gap to 26-21 with 6:56 left. Ryan Fitch, who led West Alabama, a Division II team, with 20 points, had two 3-pointers during that 16-4 run.
Two free throws by West Alabama's Allen McGaha at the start of the second half cut the lead to three, 31-28, but Morehead State began to pull away after that. A three-point play by Hill started a 9-2 run that made it 40-30.
