NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Mike Glover scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Iona defeated Long Island University 100-84 Monday night for its fourth consecutive victory.
Scott Machado, the NCAA assists leader (12.8 coming in), passed out 10 more for the Gaels (4-1), and he had plenty of help distributing the ball. Iona finished with 28 assists to 14 for the Blackbirds (2-4).
Glover scored 14 of his points in each half, and the Gaels took a 54-38 halftime lead after shooting 59 percent (23 of 39) in the opening 20 minutes.
Iona, which is averaging 95.4 points per game, led by 32 points, 87-55, with 11:56 left in the game.
Machado also had 14 points for Iona, Taaj Ridley had 14 points and Jermel Jenkins added 13.
Jamal Olasewere scored 20 points to lead Long Island, which has not played a home game this season. C.J. Garner added 18 points.
