NEW BRITTAIN, Conn. (AP) -- Robby Ptacek and Ken Horton scored 30 points each to lead Central Connecticut State over Sacred Heart 82-80 in overtime on Saturday.
With the Blue Devils (4-2, 1-0 Northeast Conference) trailing 78-77, Horton's layup put them up with 23 seconds left. Sacred Heart's Justin Swidowski then missed a pair of free throws, and Horton made two on the other end with 8 seconds to go.
After two free throws by Sacred Heart's Phil Gaetano, Robby Ptacek made one of his two foul shots for the final margin with 4 seconds to play.
Joe Efese chipped in 11 points for CCSU, which used a 12-4 run in the last 6:13 of regulation to send it into overtime. Ptacek's 3 capped the spurt and tied it at 68 with 1:10 remaining.
Shane Gibson led the Pioneers (5-1, 1-0) with 32 points and Swidowski had 21 points and 10 rebounds.
