MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Charlie Westbrook's 3-pointer with 28 seconds remaining lifted South Dakota over Morehead State 57-56 Saturday night after the Coyotes squandered a 17-point lead.
Louie Krogman, who assisted on Westbrook's shot and led the Coyotes (4-5) with 19 points, had tied the game at 54 on a 3-pointer with 2:21 left. Kahlil Owens' offensive rebound and layup with 40 seconds left gave the Eagles (4-7) a 56-54 lead.
After the go-ahead shot by Westbrook, who finished with 10 points, Terrance Hill's 3-point shot for Morehead State missed at the buzzer.
South Dakota led 37-24 at halftime and 43-26 after Trevor Gruis' layup with 17:31 remaining in the game. But the Coyotes didn't get another field goal for 10:16, managing only two free throws in that span, and the Eagles went ahead 51-49 on Hill's 3-pointer at the 5:01 mark.
Milton Chavis had 14 points and Hill 13 for Morehead State.
